In a world where life often seems to rush forward like a turbulent river,  this handwoven masterpiece stands as a serene reminder of the beauty that can be found in embracing the path of least resistance. Crafted with meticulous care and a reverence for nature’s gifts, “Going With The Grain” encapsulates the essence of harmonizing with life’s flow rather than striving against it.

This captivating wall hanging is a dedication to my craft. Using a native white deal of Ireland wooden handmade weaving peg loom,  intricately weaved each thread with an artist’s touch, creating a tapestry that transcends mere craftsmanship. The choice of Galway sheep’s wool, known for its exceptional quality and vibrant hues, adds depth and richness to the piece, highlighting the interplay of textures and colours in a mesmerizing dance.

The threads of Irish wool from Cushendale bring a distinct touch to the composition, infusing the artwork with a sense of place and tradition. The legacy of generations past is woven into every fibre, connecting the contemporary masterpiece to the roots of the craft and the land from which it draws inspiration.

What truly elevates “Going With The Grain” is the suspended design, gently swaying from a reclaimed deadwood piece of Sally. This symbiotic relationship between the wood and the woven creation evokes a sense of balance and unity. The wall hanging seems to effortlessly float, mirroring the concept it represents – the fluidity and grace that comes from embracing life’s natural rhythm.

The dimensions of the piece, approximately 38 ½” in length and 40 ½” in width without the fringe, and the wooden dowel measuring 59” in length, give it a presence that commands attention. Yet, it does so with a gentleness that encourages observers to pause and reflect on their own journey.
